Franziska Brech

Franziska Brech teaches German, flute, chamber music, music appreciation, and music history at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. (Read more).  

She holds degrees from the Robert-Schumann Hochschule, Düsseldorf, Germany, The Benedikt School, Munich, Germany, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. From 1995 to 2019, and again since January 2023, she has been a member of the Kearney Symphony Orchestra. She directs the UNK flute choir and is a founding member of the Trans-Nebraska Players, a chamber music group that has toured many US states, Canada, and England. Since 2010, she has been a contributing author for the German flute magazine Flöte aktuell. The MVG Munich published her German translation of Marya Hornbacher’s memoir Madness in April of 2021. This is her fourth appearance at the Columbia River Chamber Music Festival.
